Salute Your Shorts

Shirt: Army Barracks
Leggings: Forever 21
Boots: Jessica Simpson
Pin: Vintage
Headband: Forever 21

Okay, disclaimer- sorry this shirt is wrinkled. If my mom saw this, I'd most definitely get quite a lecture. My excuse was that I was just too excited to iron it- I had to wear it now! I put together a trip to Salem with a bunch of friends and had a truly fantastic time. Let alone just enjoying being out of the city, I had never been surrounded by so many people in costume in one place which made me happy. I'm a sucker for anything festive and I couldn't think of a better word to describe that town. It was really cool to see such high spirits about one idea spread throughout thousands of people. ANYWAY, the point of this is that in the midst of browsing through stores straight out of Harry Potter world - why didn't I buy that 'make people do what you want potion kit'?- the most popular store for our group was actually the Army Barracks. Everyone had a blast trying on everything- and I fell in love with the shirt. The whole military craze kinda won me over and I was surprised with how well the button down fit me as typically I run into trouble on a certain button.

Also, the pin is just an added touch. I had told my mom that I could use some accessories for my halloween costume (which is Joan Holloway) and she sent me a huge box of jewelry that blew me away. Her jewelry collection is wonderful and she's always been very generous about letting me borrow them even though I have a bad record of breaking necklaces. So look for more jewelry in the next couple (hundred) posts!

Hopefully my hiatus is over! Feels good again to put this together.

It's Okay

Sweater- Urban Outfitters
Blouse- Free People
Jeans- J. Crew
Shoes- DSW
Well, it's been a really long time since I've made a new post. Things have been a bit hectic with midterms and such and I just couldn't seem to think of anything to say. I did wear some cute outfits that I never got to document, which makes me sad, but that means I'll have to just put them all back on again one day and take a lot of pictures and everything will be good again. Time keeps movin- and soon enough it will be Wednesday where I can completely devote myself to the joy that is my new blog. Cool beans!

As for this outfit, I was having one of those days and this sweater just gives me a really good feeling. I think it's the color. Or the zippers. Or the pockets. GOSH I love pockets. I never thought to pair that shirt with the sweater and when I did I just had to smile.

Enough rambling.
As I thought about trying back on all my old outfits- this popped into my head
Kind of awesome. Who knew Shia could look so good in a dress?

Retro Urban Cowgirl?

Denim Shirt: Sarah Jessica Parker for Steve & Barry’s
Daisy Blouse: Goodwill
Skirt: Proenza Schouler for Target
Boots: Anthropologie
The denim shirt! How trendy of me. Actually, I think I got this shirt in 2007 and at that time I had no idea how to wear it. Typically I would throw it over a sundress and call it a success. Then I moved onto buttoned with black skinny pants and a scarf. That was a big deal. Now I'm allowed to wear it with whatever I want- even more denim! Whaaa? That's crazy talk. (still havent ventured there... not really sure if those magazines are just trying to trick me into looking like JLo)
I have loved this skirt for a while too. Sadly, I think it needs to be retired. Its lining has almost completely disconnected from the rest of it, forcing me to reach up there after approximately every 50 feet, trying to be subtle but maybe screaming 'Dont look at me!' to a swarm of students might not be the best approach... Sigh! But I love it.
Notice how two of my clothing items are from special designer lines. I used to get really excited about them- especially the Proenza Schouler. Now it seems like you could pick 1/10 people from imdb or 7/10 people from mtv and they'd have one. Give me DVF at Forever 21 and maybe I'll start paying attention again. (and by maybe I mean 'HOLYCANOLE where is my purse')
Also, for anyone that actually  knows my life and notices the post dates seem a litte off- it's because I recently switched my blog from tumblr to blogspot. So these were my posts from there. Tumblr looked great but quickly became limiting so I'm really happy I made the switch over to here. Improvements will keep happening. Yay for blogging! And not doing homework.

Fall Feelings

Dress: Forever 21
Cardigan: Macy’s
Leggings: American Apparel
Shoes: T.J. Maxx

Well, hey. It’s finally feeling like fall. We went from 80 degree weeks to 3 days straight of 50 degree rain and today we have come to a beautiful medium. It’s the best season of the year and I have two bags of candy corn and a pumpkin named Ethan and everything is right in the world. I saved the dress for this occasion. I love the combination of the different browns, which are almost like burnt orange. Plus the blue to give it some contrast. And the black. Which is perfect so I can pair it with all things else black because that’s all I seem to own. Probably should invest in some other colors… Eh, who am I kidding?
Going to Salem on Sunday. Should be quite the adventure. How does one dress for Salem anyway? Corsets? Fishnets? Capes? Do I own any of those?! Problems! Must go to Garment District. This is an emergency!

Supermarket Sweep

Dress and boots: Urban Outfitters
Cardigan: Forever 21:
Scarf: Francesca’s
I wore this outfit Friday day and night (and Saturday morning but we’ll exclude that..) It was constantly raining. And extremely humid. As much as I would’ve liked to bundle up every inch of my skin to keep dry, I couldn’t walk 100 ft without getting overheated. And once you get hot then your skin starts to sweat and then your clothes get wet from the inside and that just defeats the point in the first place! Well not that I would ever sweat… I’m just, uh, assuming here. Anyway, decided to wear a dress, as I hate getting the bottom of my pants wet. The black boots were great in the rain. Sometimes you dont feel like ruining an entire outfit with grungy rain boots. No matter what cute little pattern you put on those, still makes me feel like I’m 7 years old. These pictures were taken at Shaws. Had to pick up some food and drink for a home cooked dinner with friends.
Although the zipper dress is a bit outdated and the scarf is a bit hipster, I still really enjoyed wearing this outfit. The proportions and colors worked. The material wasn’t too heavy. And it transitioned well into the evening. The dress alone without the cardigan or the scarf is sexy enough to feel good walking through Boston’s nightlife but not make you feel like you belong on a pole. Or in a Guess ad.
Some random guy on one of those two-foot-tall bicycles rode by me saying ‘hey girl, you got a nice get up’. Who said where the approval comes from is important?

Start

overshirt: forever 21
tank: garnett hill
jeans: j crew
shoes: zappos
necklace: marc jacobs
nail polish: OPI funky dunkey
On the first post of my new blog, I feel this overwhelming need to explain every experience and desire that compelled me into creating this. Yet, to write it all down is just unreasonable- no one wants to read pages of my own ramblings! I’m looking out for you here. I know, I am a really thoughtful person…
A few things I do want to establish are what I want this blog to be about. I think the idea of being a Boston student is conflicting. On the one hand, Boston is a magnificent city. Fairly large, historic, attractive. The amount of people is incredible! I’m constantly being inspired- I know… cheesy, sigh. While I want to compete with every skinny jeaned-ballet shoed-croptopped girl that walks down Comm Ave, I’m pretty restricted with my budget. That’s where student comes in. Money should be spent on, uh, food… right? Balancing these two things is becoming increasingly difficult.
Nevertheless, I love wearing clothes. Dressing is something I look forward to. My closet isn’t overflowing - well, when I decide to be neat- but I still maintain to not wear the same full outfit twice in a month (or even semester!). This blog is primarily for my own satisfaction. It feels very good to create a product such as this- sadly, my art skills are limited. Of course I’d still love others to read it. And you’re AWESOME.
